Pricing for kids and youth aged 6 to 17

Learn about free and reduced fares for kids. Follow the steps to get your photo OPUS card or your child’s photo OPUS card. 

Free transit for kids

Up to five kids aged 11 and under can ride for free as long as they’re accompanied by someone 14 or over with a valid transit fare. 

Children travelling alone must always have a valid transit fare.

Pricing for kids aged 6 to 17

The student photo OPUS card entitles you to reduced fares for trips within the agglomeration of Montréal.

Before you start, make sure you meet these conditions: 

  1. You’re a full-time student aged 6 to 17.
  2. Your school photo has been uploaded to your student account for the school year.

How to receive your card

By mail

A convenient, no-trip option, perfect for avoiding wait lines. Once your request is complete, your card will be mailed to your home within 7 business days.

In person

You can also choose the pick-up option when ordering your card. All details and pick-up locations are shown during the online ordering process.


Get or renew your student OPUS card in person at the Photo studio

Before you start 

You must be enrolled as a full-time student at an educational institution recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation du Québec or the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur du Québec. 

How to get your OPUS card:

1. Fill out an OPUS card request form

2. Book an appointment with the STM photo studio

3. Get your ID and information ready  

At your appointment or on the day we visit your school, make sure you bring: 

  • A piece of ID with your photo and birthday, issued in French or English 
  • Your request form, filled out less than 30 days in advance 
  • Your appointment code, if you’re going to the photo studio
