Festival International Nuits d’Afrique: Public transit, a perfect way to get there !

Press release

Montréal, May 24, 2011   The 25th edition of the Festival International Nuits d’Afrique will take place July 12 – 24, 2011, and the STM reminds participants who want to take advantage of the cultural event that public transit is still the best way to get there, as the festival’s activities will be held in various locations around Montréal.

For the STM, the partnership with the festival is a first, and it is pleased to contribute to its visibility and to make it easier to reach the various activities which, it hopes, will help make the festival a success, with respect to the level of participation.

Also, as part of the festival will be held in the Quartier des spectacles (July 21 – 24), the STM invites all participants, Montrealers and tourists to come visit the Funambus at the site. A former city bus recycled into a promotional and hospitality space, the Funambus will provide visitors with a resting area, as well as a special activity, kept as a surprise for now by Festival organizers.

The STM also reminds the general public that the Unlimited evening fare provides its holder with unlimited travel between 6 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next morning. Pass holders can use the STM’s bus and metro network as often as they wish (except for the 747 Express bus), according to their respective timetables. The fare is available on L’Occasionnelle fare card, purchased from vending machines in metro stations.

Lastly, by calling A-U-T-O-B-U-S (514 288-6287), people attending the Festival can obtain bus arrival times at their stop. For other information, they should call STM●INFO (514 786-4636). The STM website also features more useful transit related information.
