Modifications to bus and métro service

Montreal, 20 June 2003 – The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) wishes to inform transit users that several bus lines will be rerouted on Monday June 23, because of the parade and fireworks display being held for the Fête nationale.

As of 1 p.m., the following bus routes will be modified for various periods of time: 34 – Sainte-Catherine, 36 – Monk, 55 – Saint-Laurent, 61 – Wellington and 168 – Cité-du-Havre.

Also, on Tuesday June 24, the 97 – Mont-Royal, 132 – Viau, 139 – Pie-IX, 185 – Sherbrooke and 197 – Rosemont bus lines will be rerouted at different times, as of 12:30 p.m., because of the Fête nationale show being presented at Parc Maisonneuve. Bus routes 80, 97, 129, 365 and 368 could also be modified as of 10:30 p.m. for security reasons.

métro network
In the métro, trains will be added on the 1 – Green, 2 – Orange and, if needed, 4 – Yellow lines according to demand. Because these events generate a significant increase in métro ridership, bicycles will not be admitted as of 3 p.m. on June 23 and 24. The STM recommends that métro users purchase their return ticket ahead of time, to avoid waiting in line, as ridership levels are usually much heavier after the event than before.

Service on Tuesday June 24
On Tuesday, June 24, both bus and métro systems will provide weekend service levels. Some bus routes will run according to Saturday schedules, while others will follow Sunday schedules. Transit users are invited to call the TELBUS number appearing on their bus stop panel when planning their transportation to these events. For trip information (Island of Montreal only), please call A-U-T-O-B-U-S (288-6287). More useful information can be found on the STM’s website at www.stm.info.
