PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Are you planning a field trip with a group of school children and would like bus transportation?

First, check if you meet with eligibility requirements for the school transport program :

• This service is offered exclusively to elementary and high schools located on the island of Montréal.
• In 2023, the service is available on weekdays, after Labour Day to June 21, except on legal holidays and pedagogical days.
• Field trip groups must consist of a minimum of 40 children (17 years old and under) and a maximum of 120 passengers (children and adults included).
• Departures are from 9:30 a.m. and your return trip to the school no later than 2:30 p.m.
• The points of departure and destination must be located within the area covered by the island of Montréal (including Île Sainte-Hélène, Île Notre-Dame, Nuns’ Island and Île-Bizard) and more than 1km apart from each other.
• If the points of departure and destination are both less than 1 km from a métro station, you are invited to use the métro system for your group’s trip.
• In order to make this service available throughout the area, the STM could set a maximum number of trips per school.

If you meet each of the above criteria, we offer you the opportunity of using buses for your school’s field trips.
We remind you that this service is not free and that each passenger must pay for each trip. We invite you to consult our fare structure for more information.

You are not eligible to the program, but still want to use STM services?

These are your options:

• You can lease an STM bus by calling 514 280-5327.
• You can use the STM bus and métro system. To ensure you have a safe and efficient ride, we suggest you follow these guidelines:
  • Purchase your transit fares in advance.
  • If your group is larger than 25 children, divide them into smaller groups or, if that’s not possible, notify the STM at least 24 hours prior to your field trip by calling 514 280-5005.
  • Plan your transportation during off-peak periods preferably (between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.)
  • Use the métro and bus lines offering frequent service whenever possible.

  • Go to the fare booth in any métro station or to an authorized retailer (see http://www.stm.info/en/info/fares/points-sale). To purchase large quantities of transit fares, you can register your organization or school with the STM’s Batch Purchase dept. by visiting the website www.stmb2b.ca/en

TO REQUEST BUS TRANSPORTATION

1. We must receive your request within a minimum of 10 days prior to the date of the field trip. Please note this service is not offered on holidays and weekends.
2. We will notify you by email if your request is accepted. The STM cannot, in any way, be held responsible if it is unable to provide this service.
3. If your field trip is cancelled or the hours modified, inform us at least 48 workable hours in advance via email at navettesscolaires@stm.info. Passed this delay, due to reasons regarding operational logistics, we cannot modify the request
4. If, for any reason, you must change any information regarding your field trip, you must advise us via email at navettesscolaires@stm.info, within a minimum of 10 days prior to the date of the outting. Passed this delay, for reasons regarding operational logistics, we cannot modify the request. Please note that your request will need to be approuved.
5. Each person using this service must pay their fare in accordance with the current fare structure.

*The STM reserves the right to modify all hours requested. We will inform you if this is your case. In submitting this completed request, I agree and accept all conditions pretaining to the School bus and Day Camp shuttles program, and recognise that the STM is not responsable or can be held responsable if it cannot provide the service requested for reasons of lack of equipement or man power, or for all other reasons involving operational logistics. It is not possible to request a bus before 9h30 since our buses are in service for the morning rush hour. As well, it is impossible to return to your establishment after 14h30, since our buses are required for the evening rush hour service. This time frame is non-negociable.
