A new bus network in Verdun, Sud-Ouest and south Ville-Marie

Lines 150 René-Lévesque, whose frequency will be improved, and 24 Sherbrooke bus line run in the downtown area, as does the métro’s Green line, which exits directly onto Sainte-Catherine Street.

The 35 Griffintown route will be modified and extended westward to facilitate access to downtown from the Sud-Ouest area. See the map at the bottom of the page for the new route.

The 36 Monk route will be modified to provide better service to the Sud-Ouest’s commercial axes and for the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS). See the map at the bottom of the page for the new route.

Changes to 36 Monk and 38 De l’Église

There have been changes to the new bus lines 36 Monk and 38 De l’Église, affecting the locations of certain stops. The changes will take effect once the work on Notre-Dame Street is completed.

• Bus 36 Monk eastbound will now run on Chemin de la Côte-Saint-Paul, by the Centre Gadbois sports and leisure complex and the Côte-Saint-Paul seniors’ residence.
• Bus 38 De l’Église will now run on Notre-Dame, by the Centre Gadbois sports and leisure complex and James-Lyng High School.

The 37 Jolicoeur route will be split at De l’Église métro station. Service will be maintained on Jolicoeur, and the new 38 De l’Église line will run on De l’Église. The line will also be extended to LaSalle métro station.

To accommodate the changes to 37 Jolicoeur, this line will serve De l’Église Street between De l’Église and Vendôme métro stations, linking the Sud-Ouest, Verdun and Westmount boroughs, as well as Verdun Hospital and MUHC.

Changes to 36 Monk and 38 De l’Église

There have been changes to the new bus lines 36 Monk and 38 De l’Église, affecting the locations of certain stops. The changes will take effect once the work on Notre-Dame Street is completed.

The line will become 57 Charlevoix. Look for the label below in the bus windshield to make sure you’re boarding the right bus.

The following bus lines will now serve the area: 

• 61 Wellington
• 107 Verdun (this bus line will become a rush-hour high-frequency line and its route will be extended to LaSalle)
• 112 Airlie (this bus line will become a rush-hour high-frequency line)

This change will improve high-frequency bus service in southeast LaSalle, with the 107 Verdun (which will run in the Crawford area and on Champlain Boulevard) and the 112 Airlie (via Centrale Street) providing complementary service.

By running on Centrale Street, the 112 will be easily accessible to customers on Broadway and Édouard Streets (less than 300 metres away). The 107’s new route also includes stops at Cégep André-Laurendeau and Place LaSalle and provides better access to the métro network (Verdun, Line 1 – Green and Square-Victoria-OACI, Line 2 – Orange). Customers on Broadway will be able to use both the 112 and 107 buse lines.

In Verdun, with Wellington Street going car-free every summer - causing detours - and being less centrally located compared to de Verdun Street, we decided to route the high-frequency lines along de Verdun Street. This will make the 107 easily available to customers on both Wellington (also served by the 61) and Bannantyne, since de Verdun Street is less than 300 metres from both. The direct connection to Verdun métro station will be maintained.

The 61 Wellington route will be modified east of LaSalle Boulevard. The short line on Du Centre and Peel will be maintained. See the map at the bottom of the page for the new route.

The 71 Du Centre route will be extended south to De l’Église métro station and north to Guy-Concordia métro station, which are both on the Line 1 - Green line. See the map at the bottom of the page for the new route.

The line will become 71 Pointe-Saint-Charles. Look for the label below in the bus windshield to make sure you’re boarding the right bus.

The following bus lines will now serve the area:  

• 50 Vieux-Montréal/Vieux-Port
• 35 Griffintown

The following bus lines will now serve the area:

The 101 Saint‑Patrick route will be extended to LaSalle Borough Hall and connect to Angrignon métro station (Line 1 - Green line), as well as the Lafleur-Newman terminus. See the map at the bottom of the page for the new route.

The 107 Verdun route will be extended west, taking riders all the way to CÉGEP André-Laurendeau via the Lapierre overpass. The bus will also stop at Verdun métro station (line 1 - Green line) and Square-Victoria-OACI station (line 2 - Orange line). See the map at the bottom of the page for the new route.

The 112 Airlie route is modified via Centrale Street to better serve the area south of the Canal de l’Aqueduc. See the map at the bottom of the page for the new route.  

Line 114 Angrignon will take over parts of eliminated or modified routes and provide a new north-south link in the LaSalle borough, while connecting to Angrignon métro station (Line 1 - Green line).

Service frequency on this line will increase to every 20 minutes between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., and to every 30 minutes between 7 p.m. and midnight.  

Line 190 Norman will take over parts of eliminated or modified routes and provide a connection to Lionel-Groulx métro station (Line 1 - Green line -  and line 2 - Orange line).

The line will run Monday to Friday.

This line will be replaced by the 198 Broadway, as well as the new 190 Norman bus line, which will connect to Lionel-Groulx métro station (line 1 - Green line and line 2- Orange line).

The route will be modified and will now serve Square-Victoria-OACI métro station (line 2- Orange line), as well as Central Station. See the map at the bottom of the page for the new route.

The line will become 50 Vieux-Montréal/Vieux-Port. The number will be changed to indicate its new status as a regular bus line, rather than a tourist shuttle.

No. The bus network redesign affects daytime service only.

Despite our best efforts to optimize service, the reality is that changing a bus network as big as the STM’s will make some trips more efficient and others less so.

In some cases, that might mean a longer walk or an extra bus transfer. However, our current network usage data indicates that the redesign will benefit six times more trips than it will inconvenience.

Most bus shelters of stops relocated in the redesign will be moved elsewhere in the area. That said, since there are many bus shelters that need to be relocated, and it’s a technically complex process (pour the concrete slabs, hook up the electricity, etc.), some bus shelters will not be replaced until after the launch of the redesign in late August 2024.

The delivery schedule and plans for that REM station, including access to it, have not yet been published by CDPQ Infra. The STM is working closely with the project teams involved to make sure the local bus network will be able to connect to the REM.
