Fare prices are decided by the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain

Phase 1 of fare reform and annual price increase

On July 1, 2021, the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM) will roll out phase one of its fare reform. This first phase will mainly affect exo customers on the North and South Shores.

For bus and métro fares on the Island of Montréal, the changes are all positive, apart from the annual price increase on certain fares. Beginning on July 1, 2021:

  • The Family Outings program will be in effect at all times. Every day of the year, children aged 11 and under will ride for free while accompanied by someone aged 14 and up who is supervising them. This person must have a valid transit fare and can accompany a maximum of five children each. Please note that children travelling alone will still have to pay their own fares.
  • Customers aged 65 and up with a photo OPUS card will be able to get even better reduced fares, with discounts up to 70% off the regular price.

The redesign for fares accepted at the STM will be rolled out in 2022.
