Fundraising at the STM
Close to $800 000 to help those in need
Montreal, February 13, 2008 - For a twelfth consecutive year,
current and retired employees of the Société de transport de Montréal
demonstrated their great generosity during the company’s annual
fundraising campaign held from November 1 to 30, 2007.
In fact, while the
objective had been set at $630 000, in the end a sum of
$676 273.57 was shared among the four organizations on whose behalf this
fundraising was held. This sum was distributed as follows:

Centraide of Greater
Montreal: $139 914.26

Canadian Red Cross,
Quebec Division: $116 895.73

Partenairesant�-Québec:
$108 123.03
-
R�chaud Bus: $311 340.55
Symbolic cheques were
presented on January 25 with several volunteers from the company and
representatives from each organization in attendance.
Transit users also do
their share
Clients also showed
their generosity during the tenth edition of the Bonnes œuvres des
employ�s, which took place this past November 22, 23 and 24. On this
occasion, volunteers from the company collected donations in certain métro
stations to help out families in need.
This fundraising drive
raised $66 620.17 from transit users, to which was added another
$17 217.20 collected from employees.
Thus, a total of $83 837.37 was used to buy food to prepare Christmas baskets for some 710 underprivileged families in various sectors of Montréal.
A huge thank you to our
current and retired employees and to our clients for raising a total of
$760 110.94
to help the most disadvantaged.
