Modifications to STM bus service

Montreal, 29 July 2004 –  The STM will modify some of its downtown bus service this weekend, as a variety of events will be held in and around the gay Village on Saturday, July 31, as well as on Sunday, August 1, when the Gay Pride Parade will also be held.

There will be no service on the 15 - Sainte-Catherine bus route as of 9 a.m. on Saturday and all day Sunday. Service will also be cancelled on the 150 - Ren�-L�vesque from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 1.

Service provided by the following bus routes will also be modified for various periods beginning Friday, July 30:

• 14 – Amherst, from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. August 1 ;

• 30 – Saint-Denis/Saint-Hubert, from 8:30 p.m. July 30 to 7 a.m. August 2 ;

•  55 – Boul. Saint-Laurent, from 11:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 1 ;

•  57 – Pointe-Saint-Charles, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. August 1 ;

• 61 – Wellington, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. August 1 ;

• 66 – The Boulevard, from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. August 1 ;

•  80 – Avenue du Parc, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. August 1 ;

• 107 – Verdun, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. August 1 ;

• 129 – C�te-Sainte-Catherine, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. August 1 ;

• 165 – C�te-des-Neiges, from  7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. August 1 ;

• 166 – Queen Mary, from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. August 1 ;

• 168 – Cité-du-Havre, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. August 1 ;

• 358 – Sainte-Catherine, from 1 a.m. July 31 to 6 a.m. August 2 ;

• 361 – Saint-Denis, from 1 a.m. July 31 to 6 a.m. August 2.

The STM encourages everyone planning on using the métro to attend any of the Gay Pride events to purchase their return ticket ahead of time, as métro stations are always more crowded after an event. Indeed, as ridership is expected to be quite heavy for the parade on Sunday, August 1, transporting a bicycle in the métro will not be permitted between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
