Access to documents
The STM is a public body subject to the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information (R.S.Q., chapter A-2.1).
Every person has a right of access, on request, to the documents held by the STM. The right does not extend to personal notes written on a document or to sketches,
outlines, drafts, preliminary notes or other documents of the same nature
How to get the information
Your request may be done orally but the STM strongly suggests that it be done in writing. Furthermore, according to the Act, only written requests can be reviewed.
The completed
access to information request form can be submitted by mail or by fax to the STM's Secrétariat général et affaires juridiques, care of Secrétaire général adjoint.

Protection of personal information
The STM is obliged to protect documents which contain personal or other private information. Therefore, the STM may refuse to release
information filed in a confidential file as stated in the Act.
Charge
A reproduction fee may be charged to the applicant. The amount prescribed by the regulation for photocopying costs is $0.33 per page.
A deduction cost of $6.40 is allowed per request.
Response time limit
In accordance to the Act, the STM will promptly reply to the applicant and no later than twenty days from the date the request was received. If the request
cannot be processed within the time limit of twenty days, the STM can extend this delay. However, this delay cannot exceed 10 days.
Denied access
If a request has been denied, in whole or in part, the applicant may apply to the
Commission
d’accès l’information du Québec for a review of the decision.
