The STM to add bus service to the 496 Express Victoria as of June 17

Montréal, June 10, 2019 – The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is announcing a service enhancement to the 496 Express Victoria line as of June 17, 2019.

The STM will extend service on the 496 Express Victoria line to Saturdays and Sundays, as well as public holidays. Service will be offered to customers between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., with departures every 30 minutes, which will improve travel times for public transportation users in the Lachine area during these periods.

Philippe Schnobb, Chairman of the board of directors, stated: "The steady increase in ridership on all local lines operating on the weekend in Lachine warrants an improvement to the service on the 496. By adding service on the weekend, customers using this line will reduce their travel time between Lachine and the métro by approximately 35%, depending on their departure and destination points.”

Maja Vodanovic, Mayor of the Borough of Lachine, added: “Residents of Lachine have been hoping for increased service on the 496 for a long time, and we are pleased with the attention and cooperation of the STM, who is offering this service enhancement. With the work on the Turcot Interchange coming to an end, we are optimistic about collaborating with the STM on these new routes in the future."

“The fact that the STM continues to improve public transportation in and around Dorval is excellent news for residents of the area. They will be able to travel not only more easily but also in a more eco-friendly way,” said Edgar Rouleau, Mayor of the Cité de Dorval.
