Montréal, August 4, 2015 – The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) wishes to inform customers it is increasing the offer of shared taxi service in the residential district of Sainte-Marie, in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, by adding hours of service on weekdays and weekends, starting next August 10.

« The STM is constantly working on improving access to transit service in all areas of the island of Montréal that are not served by buses, by offering other modes of transportation, such as taxis, to adequately meet genuine needs. This service enhancement provides new options for transportation, with public transit, to the métro and to the West Island », declared Philippe Schnobb, chaiman of the STM board of directors.

« We have been working for several years now on having greater flexibility in our public transit service so that our residents can come and go more freely to and from the north section of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. Thanks to the STM’s cooperation, we will finally get to enjoy improved service, better adapted to our needs, seven days a week. With a view to ensuring the mobility of our citizens and visitors to our area, we feel certain the STM will not let us down and will indeed support us on an ongoing basis, as our current and future needs evolve over time, » added Ms. Paola Hawa, mayor of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.

Quartier Sainte-Marie – Terminus Macdonald taxibus route

This new shared taxi service to Macdonald terminus will be available weekdays and evenings, with departures in both directions every hour during the week, with a reservation, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., as well as on weekends, from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., giving district residents access to Macdonald terminus. Over twenty stops will ensure the shared taxibus service is available to residents. Taxi rides will also connect with area bus lines, namely the 200 – Sainte- Anne-de-Bellevue, 211 – Bord-du-Lac, 212 – Sainte- Anne, 405 – Express Bord-du-Lac and 411 – Express Lionel-Groulx. As a result, the introduction of the Quartier Sainte-Marie – Terminus Macdonald taxi service will replace the former Sainte-Marie/L'Anse à l'Orme taxi service, by offering more hours of service, and a route that is more suited to local needs. The actual service during rush hours is unchanged.

Shared taxi service is provided on request. Customers must absolutely reserve a seat at least 40 minutes prior to departure by calling 514-636-6666. To pay, customers must show a valid STM fare card. Keep in mind that twelve other shared taxi routes are also available.

Customers can obtain STM timetable information over the telephone by calling the AUTOBUS (514 288-6287) line, from the stm.info website, from SMS cellphone messaging at 52786, or through our app for iPhone and Android.
