Saint-Mathieu entrance to Guy-Concordia station to reopen Monday, August 27, 2012

Press release

Montréal, August 23, 2012 –  Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is pleased to inform customers that, after 25 weeks of renovations work that extended the service life of systems and installations, the Saint-Mathieu entrance to Guy-Concordia station will again be accessible to transit users when the métro opens Monday morning, August 27, as planned.

For customers who ride the southbound 165 – Côte-des-Neiges or 166 – Queen-Mary lines, the situation is back to normal, meaning they will enjoy direct access to the Saint-Mathieu entrance as they did before the work began.

The renovations carried out between March 5 and August 26, 2012, at a cost of some $3 M, consisted mainly in demolishing and rebuilding the floor slab of both the mezzanine and Saint-Mathieu entrance, repairing the four staircases, installing a waterproofing membrane, adding four catch basins (foot grilles), as well as correcting and/or channelling water infiltrations, replacing granite floor slabs, ceramic floor and wall coverings, improving access by replacing swing doors by pivoting doors, including a motorized one, improving natural ventilation in the entrance building by adding new motorized shutters, replacing and adding windows to the entrance building, replacing current lighting fixtures with a more efficient and architecturally-pleasing modular lighting system and, lastly, finishing with related plumbing and electrical work, including upgrading the fire alarm systems.

The STM reminds the public that these renovations were carried out as part of Phase 1 of the Réno-Infrastructures program financed through a partnership agreement between the MTQ and the STM.

The STM thanks its customers for their patience and cooperation throughout the renovations work.
