Montréal, September 12, 2011 To kick off a new season of MÉTROPÉRAS concerts, Société de transport de Montréal (STM), in collaboration with Opéra de Montréal and Orchestre Métropolitain, is pleased to present a free mini-recital based on the Marriage of Figaro.
Indeed, on September 13, from 4 :45 p.m. to 5 :15 p.m., transit users who happen by Berri-UQAM station (mezzanine level, before the turnstiles) can stop by and enjoy a concert given by Atelier lyrique singers, accompanied by an Opéra de Montréal pianist and a string quartet from Orchestre Métropolitain. Together, they will present excerpts from the famous opera The Marriage of Figaro, created by Mozart in 1786. Opéra de Montréal is one of the top 15 opera houses in North America and plays an active role in reaching a wider audience, such as taking part in the STM’s MÉTROPÉRAS.
The STM, Opéra de Montréal and Orchestre Métropolitain wish to reward public transit users by offering them an opportunity to attend a superior quality performance in the métro, while showing them that using public transportation can lead to many new discoveries !
