The STM, proud partner of the Montréal Canadiens and
The Goal is Green!

Montréal, February 19, 2009 The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is proud to announce a partnership agreement with the Montréal Canadiens hockey club. As part of an initiative by the Montréal Canadiens, The Goal is Green, the partnership will translate into actions, at each game, aimed at raising awareness among the hockey club’s employees and fans about the use of public transportation and the positive impact that can have on the environment.

An online contest starting March 1, 2009
In light of this partnership, and as a way of reaching their goal, the hockey club will hold an online contest, Go Green with the STM, on its website, The Goal is Green, beginning March 1. Each week until the end of the hockey season, contestants will have a chance to win one of five OPUS cards charged with the CAM fare for the month following the draw.

A pilot project for hockey fans in the West Island
The goal obviously being to promote the use of public transportation, the Canadiens hockey club is joining the STM to offer a shuttle service to West Island residents for all Habs home games. For fans, this means they no longer have to take the car downtown to attend a game.

Starting February 24, STM buses will wait for hockey fans as they exit the Bell Centre (St. Antoine St.) to take them back to three specific locations in the West Island: Dorval, Pointe Claire and Fairview.

Departures are scheduled 15 minutes after the end of the game. Hockey fans can take advantage of this service by simply showing a valid STM fare or by paying the cash fare ($2.75 for full fare and $1.75 for reduced fare users, exact change only).

Details about the shuttle service are available on the STM website at www.stm.info. Contest details will be available at the same address as of next March 1.

The STM reminds everyone wishing to use public transportation to go to the Bell Centre for home games that they can call A-U-T-O-B-U-S (514 288-6287) for bus schedules at their stop. For all other information, they call call STM●INFO (514 786-4636).
