Fantasia and the STM: A proud first for us!

Montréal, July 9, 200
9 The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is very pleased to be the official transporter for the Fantasia Festival for the first time this year. This film festival is aimed at a tuned-in, trendy audience, with an average age of 25. Fantasia will take place from July 10 to 27 at Concordia University.

Thanks to an agreement reached between the STM and Fantasia, cinephiles who use public transit will have free access to all 1:00 p.m. showings of films and events, Monday to Friday, at the Alexandre-de Sèves cinema upon presentation of their valid transit fare.

“This partnership is in line with one of our objectives, which is to encourage more people to use public transit, either on a regular or occasional basis. As well, 18 to 25 year-olds represent a clientele that we want to win over. For travelling in the city, public transit is the best option,” declared the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the STM, Mr. Michel Labrecque.

Mr. Labrecque wished to add that, “using public transit is a positive move for the environment, and young people are very aware of this.”

The STM’s promotional bus, the Funambus, will also be on-site during an outdoor film showing that will take place on St-Laurent Boulevard, facing the SAT. All the elements of the Funambus are made from recycled materials. This re-purposing project is the work of artist Vincent Vandebrouck, who is well-known for his environmental and sustainable development creations.

The Société de transport de Montréal encourages Fantasia film enthusiasts to join a society in motion.
