Additional service
on the 268 Trainbus Pierrefonds bus route

Montreal, June 26, 2008 The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is announcing a service improvement and increase for the 268 – Trainbus Pierrefonds bus route. Extended to Côte-Vertu métro station to provide a link with the 2 – Orange métro line at all times, the bus route will now run continuously in both directions during weekdays, with 30-minute intervals during off-peak periods. This initiative means an increase in service of some 4500 hours a year.

“The service improvement for the 268 – Trainbus Pierrefonds bus route is in addition to measures taken since fall 2007, particularly the one involving the 470 – Express Pierrefonds. Indeed, expanded service during weekday off-peak periods is proving to be a great success, with satisfaction levels around 95%,” declared Claude Trudel, chairman of the STM board. “In fact, a study of public transit services throughout the West Island showed the relevance of extending the 268 route so that clients could reach their destination more quickly, particularly students attending Grald-Godin cegep.”

“Such rapid and direct service to Côte-Vertu station is excellent news for residents of Pierrefonds-Roxboro and of the West Island in general,” explained Monique Worth, mayor of Pierrefonds-Roxboro. “A large number of citizens live close to a 268 bus stop and, as we had hoped for with Ville de Montréal’s Transportation Plan, we expect the expanded transit service to entice enough motorists into leaving their cars behind.” The 268 bus route along with the 470 line now offer Pierrefonds-Roxboro residents with two direct links to a métro station. It is worth noting that service was also increased on the 209 – Des Sources last spring.

The Planibus timetable for the 268, valid from June 23 to August 30, is available aboard buses until June 27. Transit users can also pick up a copy at all times from the Customer Service Centre at Berri-UQAM station, or download an electronic version from the STM website.
