Additionnal service
on Route 470 Express Pierrefonds

Montreal, October 25, 2007 - The STM is announcing improved service for passengers taking Bus Route 470 – Express Pierrefonds, beginning this Monday, October 29. As of that date, users of this route will enjoy continuous service on weekdays, at 30-minute intervals between 9:02 a.m. and 3:06 p.m.

This additional service complements our service offering to users of public transit who currently travel this bus route during rush hour. The addition of 6,279 hours of service annually will therefore result in an extended timeframe for this faster service to the Côte-Vertu métro station.

“This initiative by the STM is part of our drive to improve non-rush hour service in Montreal West Island,” declared Claude Trudel, Chairperson of the STM Board of Directors. “Furthermore, this sector represents a significant population pool that shows strong potential for passenger traffic growth.”

Monique Worth, mayor of the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro, stated that “this additional service during non-rush hour periods is excellent news, since the introduction of an express link to the métro and the Fairview shopping centre constitutes an excellent alternative to driving a car, thus creating benefits for the environment and reducing traffic congestion.”

Route 470 – Express Pierrefonds represents significant time savings – approximately 20 minutes – for passengers, who will now be able to travel directly to the Côte-Vertu métro station. Buses on this route will also travel on Pierrefonds and Saint-Jean Boulevards, thus creating a direct link (with no transfers) to the Fairview shopping centre and CEGEP Grald-Godin.

Over the October 27-28 weekend, flyers containing the new schedule and details of the route will be distributed to all households in the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro. We suggest that transit users keep these flyers for reference, since the new schedule listed will replace all those currently in effect for this route.
