Improved STM service
New bus route in Rivière-des-Prairies

Montreal, 17 December 2004 - On January 3, 2005, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will introduce a new bus route in Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles – Montréal-Est Borough, the 41 – Rivière-des-Prairies, which will improve local travel for area residents.

Indeed, the new bus route will provide service to most of the neighborhood’s major locations, such as the high-rise residential buildings on Gouin Boulevard, the retail businesses on Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard, the CLSC and library, the Maison de la culture, the sports arena and the Marie-Auxiliatrice church. Also, with this new service, transfers will no longer be required for east-bound travel.

This new route was created as a result of the public consultations held in Rivière-des-Prairies in fall 2002. Based on that information, the STM reviewed its overall service in the area and has introduced faster, more direct and efficient bus connections, better suited to the needs of commuters. Over the next months, the STM evaluated the performance of these new routes to ensure they actually meet with the requirements expressed by local residents, and decided to implement the 41 – Rivière-des-Prairies bus route.

For more information about this new route, transit users are invited to call
A-U-T-O-B-U-S (288-6287) for bus schedules at their stop. For all other information, they can call STM?INFO (786-4636). The STM website also provides additional information, including timetables and route for the 41 bus line.
