The Employee Commute Initiative will seek input from companies of all sizes and in all industries on the Island of Montréal

Montréal, August 26, 2020 – Following the announcement of the Employee Commute Initiative, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal (CCMM), the City of Montréal, the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation du Québec and the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM), invites companies from all over Greater Montréal to participate in this important project.

The Employee Commute Initiative involves collecting anonymous projected data on the commuting intentions of employees working for companies on the Island of Montréal. The data will be collected through an STM-provided call centre and a digital platform.

The STM’s contribution to the initiative will result in several benefits that will help it to plan its services in the context of the current pandemic, such as:

  • Obtaining a more complete picture of high-traffic locations on the Island of Montreal
  • Understanding the long- and short-term effects of the pandemic on employees’ commuting plans and continued teleworking
  • Raising awareness with companies and their employees about the potential challenges of their commutes (physical distancing) and about the possibility of modifying their work hours or continuing telework

Over its two-month duration, the Employee Commute Initiative will seek input from companies of all sizes and in all industries on the Island of Montréal. Any company interested in participating is invited to register now, at https://www.ccmm.ca/en/advocacy/covid-19/employee-commute-initiative/

This initiative also aims to promote the gradual return to using public transit as a safe mode of transportation in the context of the pandemic, as well as its vital role in our planet’s future.
