The Société de transport de Montréal is very pleased with the conclusion of a new seven-year collective agreement by members of the bus drivers, métro operators and support service employees union at the general meeting last night. Eighty-two per cent of members approved the agreement, and it was ratified by the STM Board of Directors this morning.

“We are satisfied with this historic agreement. It allows us to continue the shift towards excellence in customer experience undertaken in 2016, and it supports our 2025 strategic plan,” says Luc Tremblay, Chief Executive Officer of the STM.

The agreement’s clauses will enable the STM to have greater flexibility in work organization, therefore promoting efficient and reliable service delivery for the great benefit of its customers.

Concluded after 63 efficient and respectful negotiation meetings, the agreement will link the STM to this group of approximately 4,500 employees (45% of STM staff) until the beginning of 2025.

This is the second group of employees to approve an agreement, after the office employees last March. As for the professionals group, it will be called on to reach a decision on an agreement in principle in the coming weeks at the general meeting. Lastly, mediation with the maintenance employees union is ongoing.
