MURAL Festival: STM buses transformed into urban artwork

News

Three STM buses will serve as canvases for graffiti artists during Mural festival.

Not every day do we have the opportunity to see STM buses being transformed into authentic works of urban art thanks to the work of muralists and graffiti artists, all performing legally! Yet another good reason to visit the site of the MURAL Festival, with STM as a proud partner, taking place June 7-17, 2018 along boulevard Saint-Laurent.

The free art fest, based in Montréal, strives to celebrate creativity and make all forms of urban art (cinema, dance, visual installations, painting and graffiti) accessible to the public. Twenty or so new murals will be created live and can be viewed free of charge throughout the year. Also, three buses, which STM made available to the artists, will serve as the canvas for the creation of such works live, with the Montréal Alouettes, diversity and circus arts as the event’s theme. These vehicles will then return to active duty on the streets of city, as authentic, mobile works of art!

Participants are invited to use public and active means of transportation to get there, as the festival’s site is easily reached on foot, by bicycle, bus or métro, with three stations located nearby: Sherbrooke, Saint-Laurent and Mont-Royal.

STM, artistic and cultural partner
With the most important underground art gallery in the world with its métro stations featuring more than 85 creations by Québec artists, the STM supports all forms of culture and art, while playing the role of catalyst for urban living. STM is quite pleased to be lending its support to MURAL Festival for three years running.
