The MR-63 métro cars will undergo a farewell tour on the four lines of the Montréal métro in a few weeks.
Montréal, May 30, 2018 – The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) has announced that after 52 years of loyal service, its remaining MR-63 métro cars will be withdrawn from service in June. The milestone will be underlined over the coming weeks by a communication campaign and a “farewell tour” on all four Montréal métro lines.
A well-earned retirement!
After chalking up more than 4 million kilometres each since they were commissioned in 1966, the MR-63 métro cars will be permanently retired from customer service on June 21. The last original train will make an appearance on each métro line during the week of June 18, during morning and afternoon rush hours only.
Montrealers are invited to say good-bye to the train according to the following schedule:
- Yellow line, Monday, June 18
- Green line, Tuesday, June 19
- Orange line, Wednesday, June 20
- Blue line, Thursday, June 21
