Improved service

Texte important

Service is improving on the Orange and Green lines for the summer period.

Monthly ridership on our métro lines is lower during this period. However, many Montrealers are on vacation and a large number of tourists are in town to take advantage of the festivals and major shows and celebrate our city’s 375th anniversary. Since transporting you is our priority, we will make new improvements to the summer service to make your trips easier and encourage you to leave your car at home and avoid the stress of traffic congestion.

From Monday to Friday, on the Green line

  • The frequency of trains will be increased before and after rush hours;
  • One train will be added during morning and evening rush hours.

These improvements represent 140 more trips on this line, compared to the same period in 2016.

From Monday to Friday, on the Orange line

  • The frequency of trains will also be increased before and after rush hours
  • Two trains will be added during morning and evening rush hours.

These improvements also represent 140 more trips on this line, compared to the same period in 2016.

These improvements on the orange and green lines will be in force from June 19 to August  27, 2017.

The Blue line will still close later

Since last March 27, service has been extended on the blue line.

Service is extended by 30 minutes from Monday to Friday, on Sundays and on statutory holidays, and by one hour on Saturdays.

From March 27 to June 16, 2017 and from August 28 to January 5, 2018 : Improvements to service on the Orange and Green lines

More service on Green and Orange lines

Monday to Friday

  • Trains will run more frequently before and after peak periods
  • Between 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., a train will show up within 5 minutes

Overall, these improvements represent:

  • 290 more departures on the Green line
  • 180 more departures on the Orange line

A maximum of 5 scheduled minutes

Incidents happen on a regular basis and slow down or even stop service, depending on the nature of the issue.

In 2016, some 45% of service disruptions were due to incidents caused by passengers.

You’ve no doubt already seen or overheard this:

  • Oh no! I dropped my phone on the tracks!
  • Lady! Lady! Please hold the doors. I’m almost there!

Enhanced service on the Green and Orange lines will continue until June 16, 2017 and from August 28 to January 5, 2018. In summer, service will be adjusted to ridership levels. We will keep you updated about this situation.
