This work is an homage to a hero of New France, explorer Pierre Lemoyne D’Iberville. Eddy Tardif created a highly personal representation of Le Pélican, D’Iberville’s ship.

In the late 1960s, Radio-Canada produced a television series about D’Iberville, starring Albert Millaire.

About the artist

Born in Sorel in 1950, sculptor Eddy Tardif taught art and communications at École secondaire De Mortagne in Boucherville. He created this work by sculpting enormous pieces of styrofoam, covering them with compacted sand, and using them as moulds for molten aluminum.
