More métro service

Always concerned with doing more, the STM implemented selective concrete measures in 2007 to improve service, notably by providing six-car trains at all times on line 5 – blue and last April with the opening of three new métro stations from Montréal to Laval. As of January 7, 2008, the STM will provide, on average, 17 % more service on métro lines 1, 2 and 5, primarily in off-peak hours.

To this end, clients will benefit from increased service in each direction with an overall addition of 70 weekday departures on lines 1, 2 and 5 as well as 37 departures on Saturday and 38 departures on Sunday on lines 1 and 2. This measure translates into a significant reduction in the interval between trains, which will decrease from:

  • 7.5 to 5 minutes at the end of the weekday morning and evening rush hours on lines 1, 2 and 5

  • 7.5 to 6 minutes on weekdays between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on lines 1 and 2

  • 8 to 6.5 minutes on Saturday and Sunday afternoons on lines 1 and 2

  • 13.5 to 11 minutes, maximum wait in the evening on weekdays and weekends on lines 1 and 2

Here is an overview of the time you will save by using the métro, and there will be less crowding as well.

Take advantage of the additional service

Close to rush hour, additional trains will enable you to leave earlier or later and to travel more comfortably, without having to wait longer on the platform.

More service on certain bus routes

Several service improvements were introduced in 2007, and the initial results are very promising:

  • the implementation of Sunday service on bus route 12 – Île-des-Sœurs

  • the extension of bus routes 12 – Île-des-Sœurs and 168 – Cité du Havre to the southern tip of Nun’s Island

  • the addition of non-peak weekday service on métrobus 194 – Rivière-des-Prairies and Express 470 – Pierrefonds.

In 2008, the STM will boost service on some thirty of its busiest bus routes.

As from January, service will be increased on bus routes 18 – Beaubien, 24 – Sherbrooke, 121 – Sauvé/Côte-Vertu and 54 Charland/Chabanel.

Consult the bus schedules for more detail.

Over the next five years, several improvements will mean that we will see you more often on the métro, on the bus, but also on our Internet site because that is where you will be the first to be told about new projects.
