To mark the métro's 40th anniversary, the STM is launching
a poetry competition with public transportation as its theme.

A poetry competition
will be launched later today at 4 p.m.
from la Grande Place at the Salon du livre de Montréal, a joint
collaboration by the STM and La poésie prend le métro.
As part of our
métro's 40th anniversary celebrations, the poetry competition
launch will be hosted by actress Danièle Panneton, member of one of the
jurys for La poésie prend le métro et le bus. At her side for the event will
be many of the poets who have had their works offered to the public for
reading in the métro over the last four years.
Entry forms will be
available at the stands of the Canada Council for the Arts and Diffusion
Raffin, the competition's sponsor, while the Salon du livre is being held.
Afterwards, anyone
wishing to take part in the competition can pick up an entry form at the
STM's Customer Service Centre at Berri-UQAM métro station, as well as at the
Raffin libraries located in Old Montréal, Plaza St-Hubert, Place Versailles,
Repentigny and Laval. Anyone interested can visit

The competition is
open untill November 17, 2007. Each week, the jury will select a finalist
among submitted poems on the theme of public transportation. Selected
authors will see their text published in the Métro newspaper, in
addition to receiving a monthly CAM pass and collective works of poetry.
At the end of the
competition, a winning poem will be chosem among all finalist poems and its
author will receive twelve monthly CAM passes. The winning poem will also be
published in a collective work of bus and métro poetry by Adage.
The STM hopes the
competition will draw a strong response from its clients and wishes the best
of luck to all.
