The STM announces the awarding of a professional services contract to
establish a project management office for the procurement of métro cars !
Montreal,
September 6, 2006 - During today’s regular
public meeting of the Board of Directors, the Société de transport de
Montréal (STM) will announce it is awarding a professional services contract
to Groupement DST, formed by the firms Dessau-Soprin, SNC
Lavalin and Tecsult, to set up a project management office to oversee the
procurement of new metro cars. The group will also be working in cooperation
with Labb� Design, RATP (Réseau autonome des transports parisiens), Semaly
and L�ger Marketing.
“The
STM is taking an important step in the process leading to the procurement
and commissioning of new métro passengers cars, within the timeframe
announced last spring that called for the project management office to go
into operation by October ,” explained Mr. Claude Trudel, Chairman of the
Board of Directors of STM.
Led
by the STM, the project management office will be composed of STM
specialists in a variety of fields and members of Groupement DST. Its
mandate includes supporting the metro’s operational branch in defining its
needs and requirements with respect to the new rolling stock, drawing up
technical specifications and contracting clauses, ensuring the project’s
quality assurance, and overseeing the introduction of the new cars into
service.
As
