Improvements to bus
service Montreal, 21 December 2005 - Beginning January 9, the STM will provide new transit services in Pointe-aux-Trembles and Montréal-Est by introducing bus routes customized to the needs of residents. Some 10,000 hours of service will therefore be added in a sector that sees about 15,000 trips on a daily basis. To go directly to the métro… The 186, 187 and 189 bus routes each have a new name and will follow more direct routes from the tip of the island to the Honoré-Beaugrand métro station. The 186 – Sherbrooke-Est will travel in a straight line along Sherbrooke Street. The 187 – René-Lévesque will run along De Montigny Street, René-Lévesque Boulevard, followed by Sainte-Catherine and Sherbrooke Streets. As for the 189 – Notre-Dame, it will travel along Notre-Dame and Hochelaga Streets. … Or run errands in the neighbourhood Moreover, a new bus route, the 86 – Pointe-aux-Trembles, was designed to accommodate local transit needs. Indeed, with a route that runs from north to south and from east to west throughout the neighbourhood, the new 86 bus route goes right by all major points of interest in the area, seven days a week. Whether residents need to go to the shopping centre, the CLSC, Maison de la culture or sports arena, they will no longer be required to transfer between buses. 184 – Métrobus Bout-de-l'Île route, appreciated by local residents for its
express, rush hour service from Monday to Friday, will be slightly changed,
with buses running along Saint-Jean-Baptiste Boulevard between De Montigny
and Sherbrooke Streets. Anticipated changes The new, customized bus service is being introduced in response to demands by residents who expressed a need for more direct service to the métro and better local service requiring fewer transfers. To find out
