Notice to residents
Excavation work

Montreal, December 4, 2003 – The Société de transport de Montréal will proceed with excavation work that involves dynamiting at the Guizot ventilation station located at 8333 Berri. The work will begin during the week of December 8, 2003 and will continue until April 2004. The blasting will be carried out from Monday to Friday between 9 :30 a.m. and 3 :30 p.m.

The Code de s�curit� pour les travaux de construction, article 4.7.6, requires that the following procedure be observed during dynamiting work :

  • preparatory inspection of the site;

  • twelve short horn signals;

  • delay of 30 seconds;

  • blasting;

  • one long horn signal;

  • end of blasting.

This work is necessary in order to ensure the availability, reliability and safety of the métro equipment and to conform to the safety standards governing the operation of the métro.

The STM apologizes to residents and clients for any inconvenience such as noise or short service slowdowns that may result from this work and thank them for their understanding.
