Grand Prix Weekend in Montreal
The STM increases service in the métro

Montreal, 11 June 2003 – June 13 to 15 is Formula 1 Grand Prix Weekend at l’île Notre-Dame, and for the occasion, the STM is increasing service in the métro. Accordingly, headway between trains on line 4 – Yellow will be of 4 to 5 minutes until 6:30 p.m., while on lines 1 – Green and 2 – Orange, service will be adjusted to meet the demand.

During last year’s Grand Prix, the STM carried nearly 428 000 fans on Saturday and Sunday on the 4 – Yellow line. Consequently, in order to avoid lineups at the end of each day, clients should consider purchasing their return fares on their way to the site. The three-day Tourist Card – sold for $14 – is also a wise choice; the card entitles its bearer to unlimited trips during the Grand Prix Weekend. And to ease the situation, STM personnel will be on location to help the thousands of occasional visitors. Users should note that due to the large numbers of travellers expected, bicycles will not be accepted in the métro before 7 p.m. on June 13 to 15.

Changes to bus service
The higher ridership generated by the Grand Prix also has an impact on bus service. Thus, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, there will be no service on the part of line 167 Les Îles that goes between The Jean-Drapeau métro station and la Ronde. To get to La Ronde, clients can use the 169 Île Ronde bus route from the Papineau métro station. As for line 167 Les Îles, service will be maintained to and from the Casino but delays are to be expected on Sunday between 2 and 6 p.m. Finally, service on line 168 Cité-du-Havre will be as usual to the exception that buses will not stop at Cité-du-Havre between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday.
