The STM gradually replaces the fare box in each bus with a new generation of equipment. Indeed, the type of fare box still being used - after almost 100 years of loyal service - no longer meets today's requirements in terms of security and efficiency.

With these new fare boxes, the STM will lessen revenue shortfalls resulting from insufficient payments, fraud and theft.
