| Active and retired STM employees’ annual generosity campaign
|
|
Each year, active and retired STM employees contribute to their annual fund-raising campaign in a united show of solidarity for the four organizations sponsored by the STM.

Each employee and retiree is asked to support one, two, three or four of these organizations through various available donation options such as a payroll deduction, for example.
During the year, several events including charity golf tournaments and draws also help to add to the pot so more can be done. |

Generosity at the STM in 2012
This past year was remarkable. A total of 5176 active and retired employees generously donated a sum of money. When the proceeds from all the activities held as part of the annual fund-raising campaign
were totalled, more than $1,086,000 had been collected, 5.6% more than the previous year. This sum was divided among the STM’s four partner organizations. This year we also supported the Fondation les petits trésors de l’Hôpital Rivière-des-Prairies by hosting a charity golf tournament.

STM employees’ Operation Christmas Basket comes to the aid of the community
|
|
Several STM employees give up their personal time in service to others. Inspired by these actions, their colleagues encourage them by providing financial support.
In the weeks before Christmas, a lot is heard about the food banks. Employees and retirees from all sectors of the STM have been rallying together for some ten years to help alleviate the great needs that the holidays bring to set in motion their own Operation Christmas Basket.
This operation is carried out jointly with various community organizations. Magasins-Partage, CLSCs, Société St-Vincent-de-Paul and Fondation Docteur Julien are involved at various stages to make certain that the food is properly distributed. They must also ensure that the products being provided are suitable for everyone based on their needs and eating habits.
The three days of fund-raising in November in the métro stations are followed by weeks of co-ordination leading to the final stage: distribution in several sectors of Montréal. How? By bus, of course! The STM supports its employees by providing vehicles to transport the food from the distribution centres to the homes of those being helped.

Operation Christmas Basket in 2012
No less than 500 STM employees and retired volunteers were involved in the operation, during which nearly $96,000 were collected and redistributed as food supplies.
More than 650 families enjoyed a helping hand from active and retired STM employees. Nine neighbourhoods in Montreal received Christmas baskets: Anjou,
Montréal-North, Ahuntsic, Saint-Laurent, Lasalle, Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Little Burgundy, Plateau Mont-Royal and Rosemont.t.
